Upcoming L.A.C.E.
Meetings
and Programs
Programs generally follow
regular 10am business meeting at the Clarendon Hills Public Library and
a brief lunch. Every meeting (held on the third
Saturday of the month unless otherwise noted) includes "Show and Tell"
2008, August 16th Meeting.
Bobbinlace: Guipure Insertion
presented by Doris O'Neill. Pattern originally appeared
in an early 1975 IOLI bulletin, with instructions given in the Doris
Southard mode, that is, each pair was numbered, and every movement of
each pair was described. Click
here for PDF "Photo, Prickings and more"
Doris has written the original instructions more simply, and graphed
the pattern on 10 squares to the inch
(thread size 50/2 linen) and also 8 squares to the inch (40/2 linen).
Substitute any equivalent threads you have: program aim is to do a few
sample repeats, not to produce great lengths of lace. 16 bobbin pairs needed not
necessarily continuously wound, four
pairs can be colored if you wish. Pattern name:
"Periwinkle." Please also bring all other usual lacemaking
supplies. Insertion would be nice used on the full skirt of a
little girl's dress. 2008, September 20th
Meeting: Yo-yos
presented by Jan Frederickson.
2008, October Meeting: Christmas
Ornamentpresented by Janice Blair.
2008, November Meeting: Chrochet Jewelry with Metalic Thread
presented by Kathleen Cantwell. Details TBA
